Kensington Auto Power Adapter with USB Power Port K33418US Review

Kensington Auto Power Adapter with USB Power Port K33418US
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bought this from Amazon about 5 months ago to keep my Blackberry 8800 charged in my car. This product when used with my original Blackberry USB charger was about 1/3 the cost of a dedicated Blackberry car charger.
Pros:
1. Small and thin - this unit is smaller than the "traditional" USB power adapters that cost $2-$3 like this one from Eforcity. Size was important given the limited space I have available.
2. Angled USB Port - again, unlike other traditional models, the Kensington is angled so access to the USB port is easier.
3. Excellent power delivery - fully charges my Blackberry in 30 minutes while it's in use and connected to my car's bluetooth handsfree system. Even fully charged my 5G iPod in about an hour while it was playing through an AUX port (not recommended though due to the constant whine as another reviewed pointed out). An old adapter I'd used previously didn't have enough power to both charge and use my phone yet alone an iPod.
Cons:
1. Price - obviously not the cheapest option.
2. Blinding blue LED - with the angle, the blue power LED is bright, super bright actually. Not a big issue during the day, but it can be distracting at night. A small piece of black electricians tape or similar material works fine except if you experience Con #3...
3. Loose contact with car's power receptacle - probably more symptomatic of my car than the adapter, but it doesn't always make a tight fit. I've tried adjusting the contacts but couldn't make enough of a difference to help. Spinning it to a different location usually works but the only way I can tell for certain is from the unholy blue LED power light.
Was it worth $13? For me, yes; but I'd have given it 5 stars if the cost was closer to $8.

iRecharge VPMINI Rechargeable Battery Bundle for iPod Mini Review

iRecharge VPMINI Rechargeable Battery Bundle for iPod Mini
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just ordered my second iRecharge battery bundle. The first one lasted several months, around a year I think. Lithium-ion batteries degrade over time, so I didn't expect it to last forever, but for the price, I was pleased with the life and performance of my first battery bundle.
I have an older iPod mini and the internal battery died after about 3 years. I looked into getting it replaced, but the cost was ridiculous (around $50), it would take weeks to get done and my entire library would be erased! Since several of the songs in my library were on a hard drive that crashed and was wiped clean, I would have permanently lost a significant chunk of music. So I started looking around for a different option and found this, easy, inexpensive alternative exterior battery.
The iRecharge is slim. It only adds about 1/8" to the back and about 1/2" to the bottom. I don't use the leather case, but the iRecharge itself has a built-in belt clip. To charge it, just attach it to the iPod firewire (not included with the iRecharge bundle) to the dock on the bottom of the iRecharge and plug into a regular AC outlet. You can charge it with the iPod docked in the iRecharge or charge the iRecharge battery alone. It could not be easier. The iRecharge has a display of 3 green lights and 1 red light. When all 3 green lights and the red light are lit, it's fully charged. They go out one by one as the charge diminishes, then when the red light goes out, the charge is fully depleted. The iRecharge can be recharged multiple times until it finally completely degrades and will not hold a charge. The included CellBoost is a disposable one time use battery that clips on the bottom only (doesn't extend up the back like a cradle, as the iRecharge does). I haven't used the CellBoost from my first bundle yet, but probably will while waiting for my second iRecharge bundle.
Apple is missing out on a simple, potentially lucrative opportunity here.
If they marketed the same thing, they could sell them in Apple stores for $10 each, easily. But, as long as they continue to not get it, this works just fine!

Griffin PowerDuo Universal Charger for USB-Charging Devices (Black) Review

Griffin PowerDuo Universal Charger for USB-Charging Devices (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Problem: The 3g iPhone drains your battery like no other. If you're on a road trip or if you use the GPS extensively, you're going to need a car charger.
What we were looking for: I've read too many horror stories of third party chargers bricking iPhones. So I wanted something reliable. I looked for items they sold at the apple store here on Amazon, as it is much cheaper here. I figured if Apple was selling them, they must be more reliable than these other cheaper alternatives that have been damaging phones.
Pros:
1.USB! I think this will be the trend for chargers. More and more chargers will be USB cords, so you won't have to get a billion tips for your different devices. You just plug in the USB cord that came with your product in the first place. This is a 5.5 V system, so both my iPhone and my Jawbone work.
2.Fuse: I like that it has a fuse. Its very reassuring after reading how many iPhones have been messed up by third party chargers.
3.Dual USB on the powerblock (AC home wall adapter not cigarettelighter). You can charge 2 usb devices at once. Note that the powerjolt (cigarette lighter adapter) only has 1 usb port. I've read that other car adapters that incorporate 2 usb ports hum annoyingly.
4.Small car adapter unit: barely sticks out.
Cons:
1.The powerblock is a bit bulky. I was planning on taking this with me on trips, but I think I'll take the iPhone charger instead and leave this one at home.
Conclusion: Great car charger for the 3g iPhone, with a fuse for assurance. The powerblock unit has 2 usb devices allowing you to charge 2 usb devices at once. Just use your usb cable, no more annoying car charger adapter tips to deal with.

Gomadic Universal Charging Station for the Sony Ericsson W302 and many other mobile devices - uses Gomadic TipExchange Technology - 4 tips included Review

Gomadic Universal Charging Station for the Sony Ericsson W302 and many other mobile devices - uses Gomadic TipExchange Technology - 4 tips included
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Gomadic Universal Charging Station helps manage the mess of charging electronics. It provides a single location for charging your cell phones, iPods, MP3 players, bluetooth devices, and other accessories.
The device is quite simple... It is made from a mid-grade matte black plastic which contains the internal wiring. On the top is a rubberized "platform where you place your electronics while they charge. At the bottom of the platform are 4 cables with jacks for "tips". You plug a device-specific "tip" in to the socket and then plug the cable into your device. This allows you charge any combination of devices at your station. The tips appear to be high quality with strong clips/springs and appear to be as good as OEM parts; price is reasonable at about $5 + shipping for new tips.
The price feels bit high considering that I already have all the AC adapters I need (and half of them are USB-type adapters). However, the real value is in the organization and simplicity. We keep our electronics on the kitchen bar near the cordless phone which means there's only one free plug at any time. The Gomadic Charging Station allows us to charge 4 devices simultaneously and keep the area free of clutter and wires. There's never any tangles, missing AC adapters, or conflict over who gets to use the plug.
The few flaws I've found with the product:
1. There needs to be a "drawer" or "bin" for extra tips.
2. The tips are kind of big so it's hard to plug them in sideways.
3. Devices fit much better when the charging port is on the top or bottom; sideways devices are very awkward.
4. Ony comes in black.

All-In-1 Solar Charger with 20,000mAH Li-Pol Battery Review

All-In-1 Solar Charger with 20,000mAH Li-Pol Battery
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was hesitant about this item because of the price, but I was more frustrated with running out of battery power with no outlet to plug into when I am out and about. This solar charger/ back up battery solved that problem for good! Now I can run my EXOPC slate and never worry about running out of energy. The included adapters make this unit compatible with virtually any electronic device you can carry with you. The user manual is not the best but if you have a half a brain you can figure it out. Just make sure you at least read it once before you attempt to charge your gear. It also comes with a cheap carrying case which is better than nothing. A great buy for any road warrior.

iPod USB Travel Power Charger Adapter for Nano, Shuffle, 4G, Mini, Photo and U2- HHI Brand Review

iPod USB Travel Power Charger Adapter for Nano, Shuffle, 4G, Mini, Photo and U2- HHI Brand
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm overall satisfied with my travel charger. I constantly listen to my ipod at work. We run linux boxes so it isn't really an option to plug my ipod mini into my tower- so this provides a nice alternative. I also didn't feel like shelling the $20-30 for the official USB charger or a base station.
+ cheap simple to use
+ works
- doesn't come with the USB chord. You have to use the one that comes with your ipod
-- the charger seems to screw with the scroll wheel. When my mini is plugged in, the volume will jump up and down like its receiving mixed signals. (menu, pause/play, other buttons seem to work fine) [quick work-around, unplug the charger for 2 seconds, use the wheel, plug it back in].Overall i think the important parts are that it works and its cheap. If you want something pretty and seamless, look elsewhere.

Belkin Dual USB and AC Wall Charger for iPod Review

Belkin Dual USB and AC Wall Charger for iPod
Average Reviews:

I ordered this charger for my 32gb iPod Touch 3G. I was nervous reading some of the newer reviews about the 3G not having the same charging capabilities as previous generations, but I thought I'd give this one a shot. This charger worked perfectly. I charge my iPod almost everyday with it, and use the cord that was included. It even seems to charge quicker than when it is plugged into my computer. Like others have mentioned, there is a bright blue power light on it, however, it's not unbearable. I would definitely recommend this charger.

Noah Company MediaGate MG-IKIT5N1 iPhone/iPod Hands Free USB FM Transmitter iKit (Black) Review

Noah Company MediaGate MG-IKIT5N1 iPhone/iPod Hands Free USB FM Transmitter iKit (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Everything about this product works great except for one important item. First the good things:
1. The transmitter is strong and crisp
2. Works with the iPhone 3g
3. The arm is great - moves around to wherever you wish. Very sturdy.
4. You only need to insert the jack for hands free calling (only need the charger to listen to music).
Overall & originally, I was overjoyed at how well this product worked.
Now, the bad:
1. It doesn't swivel so that you can put the iPhone in landscape/coverflow mode... Not a big deal though... But what IS a big deal:
2. The unit actually "beeps" about once a minute. Sometimes you can hear it really well (listening to talk radio), and sometimes not at all (but usually you will hear at least one beep every five minutes or so). I wrote the MediaGate Tech Support, and their reply was:
"The reason for it beeping every 30 seconds or so is in order for the FM transmitter and FM radio to stay active and not in idle mode, it requires the unit to beep. This is a normal feature but unfortunately there is no way of turning this off."
I'm not sure if I am going to return this yet; but I have a feeling it could go one of two ways... Either it drives me insane, or I just start not hearing it like a grandfather clock. I'll try it for another couple days and see how I feel...

Bluelounge Refresh Charging Tray (Pink) Review

Bluelounge Refresh Charging Tray (Pink)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just purchased 3 Bluelounge Refresh charging stations for myself and 2 other relatives for Christmas.
Of all the items I purchased for Christmas, I was most excited to open and use my Refresh.
What a disappointment I had when I opened my Refresh and wrestled with the black top of the Refresh to keep it from slipping around inside the charging base.
Refresh is a great idea, I wish Bluelounge would have invented a snap in top instead of a top that floats on the base and moves around.
When I plugged my iPhones in, the top was still slipping around inside the base of Refresh and the cords did not fit in the cut out of the Refresh top.
I am still disappointed and wish I would have purchased a POWER Mat instead of the Bluelounge.
My phones fall off the top and the top does not stay on the charging base. Poor manufacturing, not thought through and missed the mark. 4 out of 10~!
I am returning all 3 tomorrow!

USB Wall Charger Review

USB Wall Charger
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this so I would have an extra charger to use on my phone when traveling or at work. I'm not sure how much power it actually puts out but it's definitely nowhere near 1000 ma. When connected to it my phone displays "charging: USB." When connected to the 1000 ma charger that came with it my phone displays "charging: AC." Both chargers are rated at 1000 ma but the one that came with the phone charges it from 0% to 100% in a little over an hour. This thing takes several hours to get the phone from 50% to 100%. In fact, the USB port on my laptop actually charges my phone faster. If your ok leaving whatever device you intend to plug into this unused for a while this thing will work for you, otherwise look elsewhere.

Logitech AudioStation Express for iPod Review

Logitech AudioStation Express for iPod
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I looked over reviews for many iPod stations and found mixed reviews on every one of them. I bought this for my bedroom so that I could listen to calming music from the iPod when I went to bed. The sound is great, it is simple to use with clear directions and I LOVE the fact that it has a remote so I can choose to turn it up or down, on or off from my bed since it is placed across the room. It is a decent size without being too big and has a nice, sleek appearance. I am no audio junkie, so the high tech people out there might disagree, but for the average person (like me) I think it is a great deal price-wise, and great sounding, too, so I recommend you go for it.

Maxell P-3A 2G Universal iPod Charging Dock with Remote Control Review

Maxell P-3A 2G Universal iPod Charging Dock with Remote Control
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was wary about purchasing this item because I could find no formal reviews discussing it online, and the price was too good to be true. (The Apple-brand version of this device costs $99.) Now that I've hooked it up, I'm very impressed.
It's sound and video output work exactly as described - and the quality is quite good to my untrained ears. The dock, while not very sturdy or heavy, is beautifully designed & contains adapters for almost all iPod types. And of course, your iPod charges while it's in the cradle. (Via power cable, USB cable, or Firewire cable -- all included.) The only thing not included with this device is a S-Video cable, but that's not necessary for it to work.
The remote has a futuristic look with a clear blue plastic rim that lights up when you press buttons. Unfortunately, its usability leaves something to be desired with small buttons in a non-standard layout.
This device does not have on-screen display of music information (ie. current track, artist, album info) or navigation choices when using the remote. So finding the right song on your iPod is nearly impossible without walking over to the iPod and using its scroll wheel manually. To get such on-screen display, you need the Griffin TuneCenter or DLO HomeDock Deluxe (for ~ $130).
In short, this is a GREAT product for the $29 I paid. I only wish I had bought it 6 months ago!
