I use this to plug in my MacBook Pro when I'm at home, although I occasionally take it with me to my local coffee shop. I have no trouble fitting it inside my bag. I hope people realize that to do what it does, this product really couldn't be any smaller. Yes, there are mini power strips that are smaller, but have no surge protection or USB charging. Besides, Amazon does provide the product's dimensions; take a moment to pull out a tape measure to get an idea of what you'll get. Unless you use a really tight fitting sleeve or bag to carry your laptop, I don't see why it would be such a problem to fit this unit inside the average laptop bag. A lot of power supply "bricks" are larger and heavier.
The rotating plug allows you to fit this unit in any position without covering other outlets. I have not tried the USB outlets yet, as I tend to use AC chargers for my portable gadgets, but the idea is great for road warriors that need all their laptop USB ports.
January 2, 2009
I wanted to add that I recently purchased an iPod Touch and it charges without a problem off of this device. It has continued to give me good service and now lives permanently attached to my laptop's power cord. I see that people still can't be bothered to use a tape measure. Really this is not that big for what it does.

My item shipped from Hong Kong and as far as I can tell, is not the OEM part I expected (unless Toshiba is a.k.a. GD-JY-SHDZ COMP CO., LTD.). It is of inferior quality and durability compared to my original; light and flimsy, much shorter cords, no tie-off band. BUT, it was low priced ($49 shipped), it's working, and seems it will make a good backup. So, fair.

Logitech S715i Rechargeable Speaker for iPod and iPhone Review

Logitech S715i Rechargeable Speaker for iPod and iPhone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this docking station for use while deployed to Iraq and I hijacked my wife's Amazon account to do it (smart, right?). It is surprisingly light and slim, especially considering the fullness, crispness, and volume of the sound that it produces. I have not been disappointed, particularly at this price point.
Features that I really like:
1. Dual voltage, which is great for overseas travel.
2. Comes with power adapter.
3. AUX-IN capability has been very useful for plugging in to my laptop for movies.
4. They did away with the iPod inserts, and the design ingeniously allows whatever iPod you insert to rest against a back stop, so that you aren't stressing the connector when you push on the iPod to control it.
5. Remote is simple on features but works very well even when not pointed directly at the unit.
Features that could still be improved:
1. The carry case is more like a dust cover. It is made from the same material those re-usable grocery bags are made from. I am not complaining that it doesn't come with something more substantial at this price, but I do hope that Logitech or some other manufacturer makes something with padding for those of us who travel a lot. I'd be happy to purchase it as an accessory.
2. The AC adapter would be even better if the prongs folded in, as many travel adapters do.
3. You can't use an iPod touch that has a case on it. The docking area narrows toward the bottom making the width a problem--even with slim fitting cases. This just means you have to have a case that comes off easily or one that has a detachable bottom.
Overall I give this a 5 star rating. I waited about a month and a half for this to be released based on initial industry industry reviews (CNET, etc.) and features; I am not disappointed. The sound is great. It is portable. It looks good. It is not extremely expensive. Those all add up to a real winner. I own a Bose Sound Dock (original) and feel that the sound is better on that speaker system--fuller bass and it fills the room a bit better, however the price was double and it is not portable. I challenge anyone to find something higher quality and more versatile for the $150 or under range.

Griffin Technology PowerDuo 2 amp Power Charger for iPad, iPhone and iPod (Black) Review

Griffin Technology PowerDuo 2 amp Power Charger for iPad, iPhone and iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This item includes a wall plug adapter, a cigarette lighter adapter, and a sync/charging cable that works with various Apple devices (such as the iPad, iPhone, and most iPod models). The advantage to this particular set is that the charging port puts out 2.1 amps, which means that it is designed to charge the iPad at the same rate as the adapter that is packaged with the iPad. Some reviewers on Amazon and elsewhere have reported that it actually charges the iPad slightly faster than the original adapter, and I confirmed with my Kill-a-Watt that the Griffin actually draws about 10% more power from the wall than the stock adapter (see details below). I do not have the tools to accurately check the current draw from the cigarette adapter, but I wouldn't be surprised if it also charges an iPad more quickly.
STOCK iPad ADAPTER:
When first plugged in: 11W
After a few seconds: 10W
Above 80% charge: 9W
GRIFFIN POWERBLOCK WALL CHARGER:
When first plugged in: 12W
After a few seconds: 11W
Above 80% charge: 10W
The cable packaged with the Griffin chargers works not only as a charging cable, but as a sync cable as well; i.e. you can use it to connect your Apple device and your computer to sync data between them. If you have an iPad, it WILL charge as well--although the iPad screen will probably say "Not charging" and the charge rate will be much slower (.5A from most USB ports, compared to 2.1A from the wall or cigarette lighter).
The Griffin chargers are light but seem well built. The wall charger, although longer than the stock iPad charger, is only slightly thicker but not as wide (see my customer image), and it also has a folding plug. So it has a nice form factor that is just as convenient for travel as the original adapter.
This set is also available at the Apple store, so obviously Apple endorses this set of Griffin chargers for their own products. However, it is considerably cheaper here on Amazon.

120W Universal AC Power Suply Adapter Charger for Asus Laptop Review

120W Universal AC Power Suply Adapter Charger for Asus Laptop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When i first bought this product I was thrilled to find a universal adapter that had 15V-24V and a 120W output. My recent laptop adapter was horrible. It was around $80 plus tax and it could only supply 70W, but that was the only adapter that was available and I needed my laptop to work for various assignments. As soon as i found this i was excited. All the requirements were met, or exceeded. However, when the package arrived I found that: "input: 100-240V-2.8A (2.8A) 50-60Hz" Anyway, I'm not an expert at this stuff but my laptop has an input of (4.74A). Knowing this the adapter will probably be damaged to some extent (if my limited knowledge is correct). When i found that out I came back online and asked, "why would i miss that?" and found that the Amps were not even listed in the description. Now im not sure if it's all that important, but I believe it is. I was expecting the amps to be high...knowing that this ac adapter goes to a 24V and 120W...sad, I know.
I gave 4 stars because everything was met or over. 1 star reduction for not listing the amps in description (I would make it 2 or 3 stars if it weren't for the price). But the price is what makes it. I didn't burn tooo much money, so this adapter was worth it, somewhat. Yes, I'll be using this adapter a lot (if it burns out, it burns out...ah well).

I lost my 110v plug in ac/dc adapter for battery charger, however, I still had the plug in for my car. Searching for the correct 110v adapter was a chore I wish on no one and when found it was almost $20!!! I found this item while doing a new search and for the price I bought one, and to my surprise it has worked great. I've also brought it to work and used with my cell phone car cable to charge my batteries at work. Well liked and used. Great product and price.
UPDATE!!! 8.15.05 Today I mailed my charger back to the company under warranty because after 1 month of usage it quite working. If it is covered and replaced with no charge I will once again update this review. Until then I can't recommend it
Update!!! 9.26.05 Today my charger was returned by the USPO and marked as "UNCLAIMED - RETURN TO SENDER". I tried a search for this company to get a phone number and no luck. This was a total was of my money and energy Do not every buy anything from "Wireless Technologies"
Also if I could my star rating would be ZERO!

Digipower EBP-TM21 2 in 1 USB AC Adapter and Battery Back Up (Black) Review

Digipower EBP-TM21 2 in 1 USB AC Adapter and Battery Back Up (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product is a basic battery, and an AC to Dual-USB charger. It does all this very well. It charges itself, and also charges up to two USB devices, and throws in a decent and very convenient LED flashlight. The case is rubberized, and feels rugged and durable. This should lead me to give it a good review, but I can't.
The use of a product like this is often for people on the go, like me. The battery in the unit is useful for giving a quick powerup for my mobile phone, or bluetooth headset, or any other USB charged device. So, I often throw this portable battery into my gear bag, or jacket pocket. The size is good for this too. The problem? The 'Power' button. The button is higher than any other piece of the case, which means that just about anything can and will hit it, turning the device on.
No worries, if a device (like my mobile phone) isn't plugged into it when it accidentally gets switched on, it shouldn't drain right? Well, normally, you'd think so. The power button cycles between 3 functions; FlashLight and Charge, Flashlight Only, and Charge Only. Remember that really useful flashlight? Guess what comes on first. Yup, the flashlight. That means that the light will be on until the unit drains completely. I have pulled the charger out of my bag on numerous times, only to find that it was drained dead. Useful, really useful.
For the product designers: The features on this are excellent. The power button needs to be fixed though. There are a couple of ways to do this. The first would be to just remove the LED light function, but that's really useful and a great little bonus. The other would be to simply add a raised bezel around the button, which would protect it from getting pressed so easily. This would require one to press down into the bezel to activate it. This would not completely eliminate the problem, but might bring it down to an acceptable level. Another option is to add a press and hold option, but that adds a smidge of cost. The bezel could be added with little to no cost impact. (Yes, I design products like this and understand the cost impacts and tradeoffs needed).

Recoton AD550 500MA AC Adapter
Average Reviews:

This is a great adapter. It'll power most electronics and you'll save a fortune on batteries. The main downside, though, is that some companies intentionally design their products to not accept universal adapters, requiring you instead to buy expensive adapters directly from them (sometimes hitting $30 or even $50). Sony is an example. I bought a portable tv plus this adapter to power it. Unfortunatley, I found out that Sony designed the TV to only accept a Sony adapter, which costs $25+. Still, this is an adapter worth buying just because you'll find some electronic to use it for.

Logitech Harmony 700 Rechargeable Remote with Color Screen Review

Logitech Harmony 700 Rechargeable Remote with Color Screen
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Hi, I had tried this remote but was disappointed by a couple of things. Don't get me wrong, like all Harmony's, this remote is overall great and is well worth the money if you want a great universal remote. Compared to some of the others, however, it's a little disappointing. For reference, I own a Harmony One, and 880, and have used Harmony for 6 or 7 years, back when the first remote ever came out.
If you're looking at Harmony remotes, you already know how great they are and you will know if this will do the job. I'll basically mention what I don't like about this remote, and why I would go for the 880 instead:
1) This remote has a flimsy feel to it. The buttons are squishy and have some "play" in it..they don't just press down -- they move a little in some other direction while being pressed. It's a little subtle, but noticeable compared to the other remotes. It somewhat has the feel of one of the rubberized button cheap remotes that come with the AV equipment you might buy. Overall the remote just feels light and plasticky and I just don't get the feeling that it would handle normal drops and wear and tear that well. Obviously, I didn't test the durability. Again, I would just note that in contrast to every other Harmony I've owned, the build quality on this is not that great. It's not bad, just not what I've come to expect. It does not have the same premium feel to it.
2) No cradle. Definitely disappointing that there is no cradle for this remote. The charging is through the supplied USB cable and a wall dongle. Basically, it takes two hands to plug this remote in. But think about it from the perspective of where you would keep this remote. Do you want to have a lone USB cable dangling around, free to slip off the endtable when you're not charging it. It seems like a pain to fish for the USB cable and plug it in. This is in contrast to dropping it into a nice custom cradle that the other remotes just "slip" into. A word on the wall charger part of it...Cheapo. It comes in two pieces (the plug and the transformer), but the fit and finish is just bad. It really feels like it was made with minimal effort in design...it reminds one of buying a really cheap piece of electronic gear by some off brand that no one has ever heard of and is only sold in Korea or China, with one of those cheap boxes with bad faded photography and Asian letters describing all the features and you know it's just not going to work. I know, I digress, but when you buy a [...] remote, you really don't want to be reminded that they cut a corner here. (for reference, I own other Logitech devices that don't have cradles, but at least the power supply is decent, such as the DiNovo Mini Keyboard).
3) Only 4 screen buttons. When it comes to extending this remote, the screen only supports 4 buttons. At first, I was excited that it actually had easy to access buttons next to the screen. The Harmony one has Touch Screen buttons, which I personally find hard to use. In the dark, you can't just go on feel with the One. The One supports 6 potential buttons. The 880 supports 8 buttons on the screen, via hard buttons next to each item. While the buttons are hard, they can be a little hard to find in the dark without practice. But it's doable. I was hoping the 700 would be the best of both worlds. In reality, it probably is, especially if it supported 6 functions instead of only 4. But even at 4 buttons, it's a reasonable sacrifice if the rest of the remote was outstanding. One advantage of this remote is the 4 colored buttons that correspond to a lot of the DVR and Satellite boxes out there, as well as game systems, etc. So in a way, you don't need as many Screen buttons. Still, this remote would have been better with 6 buttons and would have made it feel like you were buying a premium Harmony remote. Here, it just feels intentionally crippled.
4) This is a bit of a minor gripe....but, after getting the less than premium/cheapo feel on this remote, the batteries continue the cheap feel. It comes with AA sized rechargeable batteries. They are NiMH. Now, if I got a remote in 1997 that sported AA batteries that charged inside the remote, I would be telling everyone how awesome this was. But these days, we're all used to those slim little Li-Ion batteries that come in every other rechargeable gadget like cameras, gameboys, etc.
So overall, again, this remote is still a great Harmony remote and will blow away most of the other remotes out there. These are all relatively minor points of distinction for the discerning user. I would think about your purpose and how often you'll be using, and how many devices you will control.
In fact, I would agree with the first poster on this point: it's a great second remote for limited applications. It's perfect for a bedroom, or a very small, simple setup. I don't think this competes at all with the One or the 880. With the 880 at only $10 more on Amazon right now, I think it is the better buy. Personally, I find some of the buttons more user friendly on the 880 than on the One/700. And of course, there are some buttons on the One that are better than the 880. The layout of the 700 could have been awesome, but the remote is limited by the fact that it is designed to be a crippled, entry-level remote in comparison to the higher end models.
So I would think hard about the 880 (I wish the screen on the 880 was prettier....) if you're looking at this.
Finally, I really hope Logitech isn't ruining the Harmony brand here. I hope they are not planning on continuing to make a cheaper feeling product across all the models. The new 900 apparently is weaker than previous remotes in that it does not support "sequences". I know most people were hoping that it would be a One with RF. But it sounds like you have to give something back to the get the RF. I hope Logitech remembers that there are plenty of "power users" out there who want a fantastic remote and are willing to pay for it.

Kodak Li-Ion Universal Battery Charger Kit K7600-C - Battery charger - AC / car Review

Kodak Li-Ion Universal Battery Charger Kit K7600-C - Battery charger - AC / car
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The K7600-C is a universal charger for different Kodak Li-Ion batteries. You have to be sure that you insert your specific battery correctly and that the right pins make contact. Instructions were not overly clear. So far it performs well in charging my KLIC-7001 battery within 2 hours. My disappointment is that the charging cradle and separate transformer are rather large/bulkly. I bought this so that when traveling, I can charge a spare battery while continuing to use the camera. The cradle (almost 3" x 5" x 2") and the separate transformer (almost 2" x 2" x 3") do take up a lot of space if you're trying travel light. The kit also includes several plug adapters for international travelers and a 12 vdc auto adapter. I chose the pricier Kodak brand over other cheaper aftermarket chargers which I was afraid could damage my batteries. Kodak also sells a UBC charger/transformer that plugs directly to the camera to charge the battery. Without a cradle, it's smaller but then it takes the camera out of service while charging.

At half the size of comparable step-down/step-up transormers, this is an excellent piece of kit that auto-senses what voltage it is connected to and provides the alternate output. Following the guidance of having approximately twice the power capacity of your intended equipment, this 500Watt unit does not hum or buzz, has no excessive heat and is currently running my 240V UK Hi-Fi (Amp, CD and turntable) at 300Watts from a US 110V supply without any drama. I have also used it to run my wife's 240V sowing machine without any problems. It's small size helps to hide it away behind furniture, but if you can't hide it, its not obtrusive. Its power cable came with a moulded euro 2-pin plug fitted, which I replaced with a standard US plug.
