(More customer reviews)I bought the JBL ON Stage Micro in red for my office. It has AMAZING sound for such a tiny unit! I have the Bose Sounddock for my iPod at home and I gotta say...this little speaker sounds like Bose's little sister! I got it on sale at my local Best Buy for $59 because, I guess, they were closing out the red one....the other colors were on sale too, but the red was the cheapest and I liked it best anyway. You will NOT be disappointed in this speaker. It comes w/ an adaptor for every iPod imaginable. I have a 30 G video and it fits nice and snug in the adapter when it is docked in the On Stage Micro. The sound is rich, clear and deep. It takes up very little space, as it's footprint is about the size of a small teacup saucer. Bonus: besides all the adapter inserts, this unit also has a cloth zippered carrying pouch that holds the speaker, cord, remote....w/ enough room for your iPod too! Oh, and the remote is great....finally, one I can control the iPod's menu with! Can scroll thru songs and everything.

(More customer reviews)I spent a lot of time searching for some type of speakers that were not going to cost a lot for my daughters iPod Nano. I wanted to get something that would recharge the iPod while she was listening to it and something she could carry around.
The iMove comes with 8 adapters for most iPod's (4th Generation, iPod Photo, iPod w/Video, iPod mini, iPod nano). It did not come with an adapter for the new metal case iPod nano, but Memorex offers a free adapter if you call them at 1-800-321-6993.
The sound is descent and as good as anything I shopped for in the price range up to $120, has a digital display and comes with a radio which is nice as well.

iSound Foldable 4X Glow Portable Speakers for iPod and MP3 Players Review

(More customer reviews)I had been looking for a inexpensive yet decent MP3 dock that took various types of MP3 players, not just iPod. I didn't want to spend a whole lot because it was most likely going to get dropped. When I found this DreamGear iSound I was skeptical of the quality because it was so cheap- but I went ahead and ordered it anyway and hoped for the best. When it arrived (two days early!) I opened it up to test it out.
It came with:
A power cable to plug it into the wall. (it is also battery powered)
Several inserts that fit all the various iPod sizes. (one actually fit my Sansa MP3 player!)
An AUX cable to plug in those non-iPOD MP3 players and a *remote control!
It has a charging bay that charges iPODs as you play them but this does not work for my Sansa.
*You have to have the MP3 player plugged into the charging bay in order to use the remote on it.
(I can't plug my Sansa in so I cannot use the remote- that's the only reason I rate this 4 stars and not 5)
The sound quality is surprisingly fantastic and it's loud! I can easily hear it over most other sounds or at night I can turn it down and listen to it before bed without disturbing anyone. It doesn't have a heavy bass but it plays most songs perfectly.
!! If you have a CD player or anything with a headphone jack you can plug this in to it!
(you might need a longer AUX cable which you can buy anywhere!) !!
I think my favorite feature on this thing are the lights. The circles around the speakers light up a deep blue that actually matches my Sansa MP3 exactly. There is even a separate option to turn the lights off.All in all if you are looking for a cheap, good, portable MP3 dock buy this!
Trust me, it's the best one I could find for under $100 dollars that could play my Sansa the way I like.
I only wish I would have bought the Black instead of the White.
It would have looked like my MP3 was made for it!

iHome iH16 Portable Speaker System for iPod (Gray) Review

1. Alarm clock must work with iPod so I could set what song I woke up to
2. Clock must have bearable alarm sound just in case iPod is not available.
3. Clock must increase sound from silence incrementally so I'm not jarred out of sleep.
4. Clock must be small and portable so I can pick it up and walk with it while I get ready in the AM w/o waking hubby
5. Clock must work on batteries and wall plug that detaches
6. Clock must be white or silver
And with that said, this clock was so perfect it's like I imagined it! Not only that it's an travel clock so it's portable enough for trips. It does not have all the wiz bang of some of the other clocks but I really didn't need all of that. The unit is much smaller than it looks on the site and the speakers pack a serious punch (they are on the sides). I would buy this again and I've been recommending it to all my friends. Perfect!

iLuv i177 Alarm Clock Speaker System for iPod (White) Review

I just wanted to correct an error below where I indicated that the iLuv wasn't properly charging my iPod. I don't know what was happening when I was trying it out but I really have had no problem across 2 different iPods with charging since I posted the review.
Still can't think of any use for the remote however... :)

I picked up the black iLuv iPod speaker system after doing considerable research online. These reviews are pretty helpful so I thought I'd add my 2 cents worth so that you can know what you're getting.
By and large the other reviews agree with my experience. The sound quality is very good for a small unit. You want to pick a playlist before you go to bed otherwise you get whatever is randomly selected from your library (I presume this is due to my election to shuffle all songs in my iPod settings).
I don't have much use for the remote but it's nice that it's included and it works well when I *do* play with it.
The unit has performed excellently since I purchased it two months ago but I'll make some observations:
- the rotating volume and tuning dials are apparently supposed to continue the click wheel paradigm from the iPod, but they do so mechanically and are often a little awkward to use.
- do NOT count on the unit properly charging your iPod. It *does* charge it somewhat so the iPod seems to me like it will run indefinitely while attached to the unit. But I've found that the iPod is not fully charged when I pull it off the iLuv. Fortunately, realizing this, I just make sure that I plug in my iPod when working out in my gym or I leave it attached to my computer until it *is* charged when I'm picking up my podcasts in the morning. This may just be my unit but it was a low point in my commute when my iPod battery ran out of steam that first time before I realized what was going on. I'm pretty rigorous about ensuring that it's charged before I leave the house.
- I agree with others that the minimum volume for alarms needs to be lower. It would also be nice if the volume ramp-up time could be adjusted. The unit comes on and fades up to the pre-selected volume pretty quickly.
- Finally the lights, that dimmest setting may seem dim in the middle of the day, but it's pretty overwhelming in an otherwise pitch-black room. A "Glow" setting or similar would be nice. As it is, when I want to know the time at night I hit the dimmer button to check the time, then hit it three more times to cycle the light through medium and high intensities and then to off again.
None of the above items are showstoppers for me, just 'nits that you can either live with or can't. Knowing what I know now, I would purchase the iLuv again. It has most of the features I need and the price is reasonable.

Apple Hi-Fi Home Stereo for iPod (White) Review

(More customer reviews)It is obvious that Apple made a mistake claiming the Ipod Hi Fi would replace an Audiophile's home system. That claim has opened them up for criticism but, that is the only thing that can be criticized. The Hi Fi system is what it is - and that is a pretty amazing little device. I am not an expert, nor am I a novice in the art of high fidelity. I am, however, a Musician who has held Music and sound quality close to my heart for many, many years. I went to the Apple store with my AAC compressed 4 gig Nano and plugged into the system. Honestly, the sound at the store did not "blow me away"; I was in a busy store with much background noise. Realizing that the environment has much to do with sound quality, I took a chance and purchased it. I had dismissed most of the reviews that I read as sour grapes (for some reason) against Apple from people who do not own the system - had to be, some of the reviews were written before the system was even available! I was right; when I got this home and listened to it I was impressed. I do not listen to music that has that "wall' of sound (i.e. power chords, screaming vocals, retarded drums) I listen to music that has dimension (i.e. Jazz, Funk, Fusion). I wanted an audio device that would allow me to control my Ipod via remote, hold most of my favorite tunes, not fill my living room up with audio equipment, and be loud and clear enough to surround me with un-distorted sound. This system fills that bill. My one complaint is: you need to crank it up a bit for it to "come alive". At loud volumes, I find the tone control set to treble boost works best and at lower volumes set it to bass boost, meaning you need to re-adjust it upon volume changes. One other point, some of the lower end tunes on my Ipod sometimes distort when listening through the ear buds. This system seems to clean that up when cranking through the system. The added bonus being that I can use it in my backyard.
It is expensive? Yes. It is worth it? Yes, but keep in mind, it is what it is.

(More customer reviews)My sister bought me these speakers for my birthday but I returned it the same day. The picture shows an ipod touch playing on it but it wont fit an ipod like the picture. There is a jack on the bottom for ipods or any other device but this is still inconvenient. On top of that the product did not come with a D/C adapter so unless you already have one or are willing to buy one you are stuck using batteries and the radio works decent you just have to scan for a station you like which is time consuming. I was not overly impressed with the product but it does sound decent(just a slight amount of crackling when playing) as long as it is not on full blast or it will sound pretty bad.

(More customer reviews)I've spent a lot of time and some money looking for a suitable speaker set for my Ipod Touch. I like to view movies while laying in bed and this is perfect. No power cords to get in the way, sound is good for my purposes. There is a little ledge to rest the Ipod on, and it allows me to view in landscape mode. All the docking speakers force me to remove the case and most of them force portrait mode position. This is perfect as I don't want to struggle with the case or viewing position. It's a great value for my uses.

It's small, but the sound is deceptively loud and crystal clear (just when I think that I've got it turned down to a reasonable level, the phone rings or my husband asks me a question and I discover that it is louder than I thought!).
I wanted to be able to play my iPod in other rooms of the house without headphones and this tiny, sleek thing is perfect for my already crowded kitchen, and is so small and light, it's no trouble to unplug and carry around to other areas (although the sound covers an entire floor of our townhouse with no trouble, so I rarely have to move it). The adaptors for the various iPod sizes really don't seem to be necessary. My Nano 2nd gen. fits right in there just fine, and so does my husband's full-size iPod. The adaptor might provide a little more support or stability for my Nano, but as I say, doesn't really seem to be necessary.
The remote is tiny, a little cheap-feeling, and it has buttons labeled with not-quite-intuitive symbols rather than the touch system that the ipod itself has, so I have to sort of think about what I'm doing when I use it. Based on reviews, I'm expecting that the remove will probably be the first thing to go.
It's also a bonus that it charges the iPod while playing.
Overall, I think this is a nifty little device and I'm very pleased with my purchase.

(More customer reviews)Never in my life have I heard worse sound quality. The product does not go any louder than an ipod touch's speakers, so really its unnecessary. If you don't want to use four AAA batteries, you have a cord thats 5 inches long that you have to plug into a USB port. Unless you have an adapter, you can not plug it into the wall. I mean sure it's only a dollar and that's no squeeze for me, but I'd rather have a candy bar that last two minutes than this. And, when you turn both of your devices up all the way (which is still no match for your iphone's/ itouch's speakers) It gets FULL of static. The item has NO bass to it, either. Waste of money, Waste of time.

I bought this for my bedroom so that I could listen to calming music from the iPod when I went to bed. The sound is great, it is simple to use with clear directions and I LOVE the fact that it has a remote so I can choose to turn it up or down, on or off from my bed since it is placed across the room. It is a decent size without being too big and has a nice, sleek appearance. I am no audio junkie, so the high tech people out there might disagree, but for the average person (like me) I think it is a great deal price-wise, and great sounding, too, so I recommend you go for it.

(More customer reviews)We use this in our kitchen and to have a 'stereo' in our camper. It is just great. It is very easy to use (just plug it in and your ipod in the slot). It recharges my ipod also... so I don't have to keep hooking it up to the computer. The sound is really good for such a little set and is ideal for using in the kitchen, bedroom or bathroom -- where you may want to have some music, but don't need the full monty. It comes with the AC cord (a nice feature) and multiple plugs that 'slide' onto the adapter -- so you can take it overseas and use it on AC.. it also runs on batteries.

(More customer reviews)Excellent for travellers, but as a fellow audiophile, I have had to accept some shortcomings of the amp. The speakers are full range and the enclosure has no harmonics of its own which is rare in portables. Bass is warm and drives down low enough to make you wonder how the 2 little 2 3/4" drivers can produce warm bass guitar chords with aplomb. The tweeters are efficient and high sensitivity. Infact, they are accurate with music but also reveal both a benefit and a flaw of the design:
If you want to fall asleep to it next to your bed, the background hiss thats present at all volumes consitently(it doesnt get louder as you turn it up)this hiss could annoy you. I can sleep to it, but end up facing the tweeters away from me to attenuate the hiss. I only notice it between songs and when I am in very quiet settings. If you can tolerate placing it away about 6-10 feet and don't mind hearing the hiss during very quiet sections, its a great unit. I never notice the hiss outside or at engagements or with others. If you want something thats built tougher than other items I have owned both by Altec and other vendors, I will add that the battery capability is why you need to deal with the shortcomings of a Class D amp, whereas IC based solid state units are cleaner on the sound, but will never let you crank tunes for 8 hours on the beach at good volume so you can actually hear the sound will wading/swimming close to shore. The conveniences, and ALTEC's time to market with an evolved product explain some of the nuances I describe, but this will not be a choice I second guess, I have HiFi where I need it, at home, in my car and via my $500 headphones, but at the beach, in a hotel pool, or after nice day on the boardwalk, its a great way to share music for hours with good sound, great design and outstanding build quality. I chose it over their iM3, iM5 and the iM7 wont do, its too big! The iM11 has good sound and less hiss but not for the on the go, outdoors types. This item appears to have been well thought out and will be an addition to anyone who wants to utilized their ipod on the go in addition to an active lifestyle in environemnts less than optimal for the desk monger speakers so ubiquitous in the iPod speaker arena.

(More customer reviews)Our speakers arrived today, and they amaze us. Great sound, well-constructed, fold up compactly for easy travel.
Since the frequency response is 150-18KHz they do put out nice sound...not the "tinny" version I had feared. These are nice little speakers! (After all, they ARE amplified)
The included USB power cable allows you to power them from a computer, and also from an "IPod" charger/adapter. Actually, we've just ordered a different brand "IPod" power adapter from Amazon for $2.99 (iPod USB Travel Power Charger Adapter, by Handhelditems). Why waste $30.00 for an Apple version?
If you want nice sound from small speakers, these little beauties won't disappoint you. You'll be pleasantly surprised!
