(More customer reviews)I bought this so I would have an extra charger to use on my phone when traveling or at work. I'm not sure how much power it actually puts out but it's definitely nowhere near 1000 ma. When connected to it my phone displays "charging: USB." When connected to the 1000 ma charger that came with it my phone displays "charging: AC." Both chargers are rated at 1000 ma but the one that came with the phone charges it from 0% to 100% in a little over an hour. This thing takes several hours to get the phone from 50% to 100%. In fact, the USB port on my laptop actually charges my phone faster. If your ok leaving whatever device you intend to plug into this unused for a while this thing will work for you, otherwise look elsewhere.
