(More customer reviews)Just purchased and assembled a couple of these. Gonna take 12 screws to complete the assembly although it was easy using my Milwaukee electric screwdriver. Each side panel must be removed (4 screws). The drive mounts easily with 4 screws (included) after attaching and folding the internal IDE and power cables to a fixed plastic plate in the unit. The aluminum sides are then re-attached and you are done. My concerns are lack of heat conduction to the side plates as the conducting material is hard plastic. With no fan and little airflow, I can't imagine the internal drives won't run a bit warm if left on for extended periods of time. An external power switch is provided on the rear of the case and power is via a medium-sized wall wart.

(More customer reviews)My computer went "POW" and that was it. Dead. So sad. I removed the hard drive (after unplugging any power anything), and imagined heading off to Geek Squad or Disc Doctor to have that last month of files unloaded -- that last month that I didn't back up...aaaAAARgh!
I was quoted prices from $500 to $1,500 to take a perfectly good hard drive -- that wasn't the part that broke on the old computer -- and retrieve the data.
This adapter costs less than $20. My new computer arrived. I attached these cords to the drive from the broken system -- the connections are obvious -- and attached the USB connection to my new computer.
It appeared as a regular old drive on the new computer. I highlighted and dragged from old to new. Done.
$1,500? Or $500? How about under $20. You do the math.
