Here are some voltage readings I got from a few tests:
Setting-----------1.5------3-------4.5-----6-------7.5-----9-------12
Radio On----------3.9-----6-------8-------10.2----12.5----15.1----18.4
Radio Charge------4-------6-------8-------9.5-----10.4----12.3----15.1
Radio Charged-----3.9-----6-------8-------10.1----10.9----12------14.4
GPS Charge-------4.4-----6.3-----7.1------7.6-----9-------12.2----15.2
GPS Charged------6.4-----6-------7.2-----10.2----12.5----15.4----19
100-120 No Load--3.9-----6-------8-------10.1----10.8----12.1----14.9
200-240 No Load--1.5-----2.4-----3.4------4.8-----6-------7.4-----9
The "No Load" tests aren't of much value and the batteries under charge may affect the output "reading". But considering the others I will be sure I use a voltmeter and start out on the lowest setting available to obtain the voltage needed for the device in use. After looking at the adaptor internals I'm thinking the transformer primary to secondary turns ratios might be pretty inconsistent from one adaptor to another thus the lousy voltage outputs. I did not find any AC on the DC output but there was a little hum from the radio while using this adaptor which wasn't there if I ran the radio on it's batteries. Maybe another $5 in parts or quality/consistency would provide better regulation in each switch setting. But for less than $20 what can you expect?
Pardon all the dashes in the data above but the preview of this review didn't like my TAB key or multiple SPACE key taps.
